春夏、ほんのりと赤く枝を染める灯台躑躅（どうだんつつじ）。秋冬にはその色を葉にうつし、鮮やかな紅葉を見せます。プラチナ粉、金粉、乾漆粉、そして朱漆、透漆等を使い分け、また組み合わせながら、有機的に変化する枝葉の美しさを組皿に描きました。

金粉を暈（ぼ）かすように蒔くと、葉と葉の重なりが表れ、奥行きが生まれます。中央を吹き抜けるのは、春には青く湿り、冬には冷たく乾いた風。平面に豊かな空間を映し出すことで、目には見えない「空気」を描くことが制作テーマのひとつです。

Doudan is a kind of azalea. Its branches turn pale red in spring and summer, and its leaves turn bright red in fall and winter. This set of six plates depicts the scenery that changes according to the seasons, with various types of platinum and gold filings, urushi powder and paint. By drawing visible beauty of the branches and leaves, I wish to draw invisible beauty–the air that surrounds them and the wind that blows through them.
